WWDC 2009

It was, of course, Apple's WWDC 2009 yesterday - whilst I'm not too excited about the iPhone 3G S - iPhone OS 3.0 looks promising. I also note Safari 4 was released with some nice UI features. Joen mentions the removal of tabs on top: I hadn't noticed, but I think that's because tabs on top never felt right to me so moving the tabs back under the address bar is just so natural that I just didn't see it.

Mmmm, so purdy, I want - and this.

Mojave Dessert (Puntabulous)

I guess I should first admit I hate the show Punk’d. I mean, here’s a guy who is famous for lying about his age so he seems hipper, telling us that his show’s purpose it to deflate the big egos on other stars, and show them what truly matters in life. So he sets up situations where anyone would get upset, and then laughs when he upsets people. I call *cough*bullshit*cough*. (Also *cough*jerkface*cough*.)

So I have to admit I’m not predisposed to like The Mojave Experiment, where Microsoft took a bunch of “regular folks” XP users who were afraid of Vista, and told them Microsoft was going to show them a secret new operating system — which was actually Vista. #

Microsoft treats its customers like they're stupid. #

This seems to me to be lots of non-plussed people saying "Really?" I dont get it. How does this sell Vista? Also, Surely some of these people said, "This is Vista right? Not Mojave.". You can be sure I'd recognise Leopard.

iPhone Google Reader massiv

greaderiphonenew

Mobile web browsers have come a long way since we first introduced an XHTML version of Reader back in 2006. For example, iPhone and iPod Touch owners know how powerful having a full-featured browser is. We on the Reader team are heavy mobile Safari users. Sometimes we use it to kill time, other times for answering important questions that come up during brunch: What is Tyrol's first name? How is maple butter made? How do you sweeten rhubarb for sangria? What is John Gruber saying now? For questions like the last one, we of course use Reader to keep up with our subscriptions. #

I can confirm that the new iPhone Google reader interface is indeed rather awesome.

u can haz vista?

One such copy seems indicative of the whole Vista experience. On boot up, instead of seeing potentially confusing system messages, you now see a progress bar and the word Microsoft. This is a lot like the boot up screen with a Mac. Except, the word Microsoft is blurry. I know, who cares? But it is a great metaphor for the Vista experience. Decent (stolen) ideas, bad and lazy implementation.

The money shot in this article, "Lessons I've Learned" - No.4, is not entirely surprising: Hasta La Vista, Vista.
